Palace on Wheels Tour Day 06: Jodhpur

On its way to the Rajputana, the Palace-on-Wheels train stops at Jodhpur on the sixth day of the tour. Jodhpur was once the capital of Marwar and is an important historic city of Rajasthan. The second largest city of Rajasthan, Jodhpur is bordered by seven massive gates and several bastions. Tourist attractions in Jodhpur include the Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace and the Jaswant Thada or royal cenotaphs. Other important attractions inside the Mehrangarh fort are the Moti Mahal, the Phool Mahal and the Seesh Mahal, Daulat Khana and Sileh Khana.

Rajasthan is well known for a variety of handicraft items and jewelry. The shopping attractions of Jodhpur are the exquisite handcrafted articles including the famous breeches, embroidered shoes, metal curios, silverware, paintings, tie and dye fabrics, and many other knick-knacks.
